Following a competitive tendering process Topbond were appointed by Bury Council to undertake the refurbishment of Tenterten Street Subway which provides pedestrian access under Millennium Way, a main arterial Road in the Centre of Bury.

The subway required strengthening and this was achieved by placing more than 200m of carbon fibre plate on the walls.  To do this the existing tiles were removed and the exposed concrete walls  were then tested prior  to receiving a series of carbon fibre plates, fixed vertically to both walls.  The works were undertaken during a series of weekend road closures.

The site work lasted for 6 weeks and was undertaken by a 4-man team.  Further works included the replacement of the waterproofing, installation of an anti-slip surfacing and renewal of the tarmac approach paths and associated drainage.
