Rebuilding of Concrete Bridge

Topbond won this replacement bridge project for Hertfordshire County Council’s term maintenance contractor, AMEY Lafarge, with the requirement to demolish and rebuild the Bridge Street bridge in Hemel Hempstead.

Topbond made use of their in-house pre-casting facilities at Sittingbourne to construct formwork and cast five arch units before installing them at the site.

All the construction work was completed by Topbond—including a new saddle, associated brickwork, waterproofing, edge beam casting and parapet installation, and finally resurfacing.

Care was taken during construction to manage the environmental issues associated with the water course and the surrounding vegetation to the satisfaction of all stakeholders with interests in the project.
