GOODSTONE CROSS
OVERVIEW
OVERVIEW
Topbond was commissioned to undertake concrete testing to the abutments of a bridge with steep revetments.
THE CHALLENGE
Due to the short duration of the works it would not have proved cost effective to provide scaffolding access. A scaffold access platform would have been located too far from the abutment face, which meant the staff would have had to work off the revetment.
THE SOLUTION
The solution Topbond offered was a safety line which the site team could connect to allowing them to safely traverse across the revetment whilst still providing full access to the abutment. The safety line removed the risk of staff sliding down the revetment. The coring slurry water was recycled which kept the revetment dry (preventing the risk of slipping) and eliminated spillages thus avoiding environmental pollution.
