Topbond were approached by Tonbridge Council to help design flood defences as part of a new £1.95m regeneration scheme of Tonbridge Town Locks. The designs needed to be in keeping with the surrounding area whilst at the same time ensuring a high level of protection.

Working in conjunction with the main contractor, a 320 metre concrete and brick wall was constructed which runs parallel to the River Medway and includes feature steps constructed at our Sittingbourne works and incorporates 14 different stone curves.

The design, development and installation took 7 months and the flood defences now protect more than 100 properties in the area.
