In addition to their extensive range of structural survey, inspection and testing services, HTS are able to provide a car park repairs service in conjunction with other divisions within the Topbond Group.
One such project at the Brunel West Car Park in Swindon involved the repair of damaged reinforced concrete cladding ‘fins’. These repairs were commissioned following impact and corrosion defects highlighted by a previous static load testing survey carried out on the car park by HTS.
The work required the manufacture of colour matched replacement cladding ‘fins’ (manufactured by another Topbond plc Group division — Broadmead Renaissance Cast Stone). The fins were then installed and secured using a technique developed by HTS, which used a powered lifting device and a specially designed anchored steel bracket.
Remedial works were also undertaken to the exterior of the carpark using the HTS in-house abseiling team.
To complete the repair existing single bay barriers were replaced with a continuous sprung impact restraint system.
