Using a combination of complementary traditional invasive and modern non-invasive techniques, HTS offer clients a surveying service, gathering information during structural and ground investigations.
At this site, ground probing radar was used to survey the bridge from the road and the soffit to measure the size of a suspected concrete saddle over a brick arch bridge.
Conformation coring was undertaken after the survey to verify the radar’s site findings. These techniques make a valuable contribution to engineering investigations by gathering information about the subsurface features. Using these techniques information can be gathered from a large area and is thus more representative.
Ground truth data is required to verify the interpretation of the geophysical readings, although the number of measurement is relatively small. There are widespread opportunities for this service within the roads, bridges, rail, geotechnical/geoenvironmental and utilities sector.
