The Wetland Centre in Barnes is a 100-acre wildfowl reserve developed on the site of the former Barn Elms Reservoir.

When the Barn Elms site was developed for housing, a partnership was formed between the developers, Berkeley Homes, Thames Water and the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust to convert the remainder of the site into a wildfowl reserve. In 1996, Intaspan were commissioned by Cinnamond Reclamation, working for Berkeley Homes, to construct 32 bridges and 220m of boardwalk in European Oak and Douglas Fir, together with a softwood pagoda.

The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust again approached Intaspan when they required further timber structures for the Wildlife Centre. Boardwalks, decking, parapets and other timber structures for the exhibition areas were constructed to complement the previous erected bridges and boardwalks. The Centre, which is now open to the public, is an important wildlife oasis close to the centre of London.
