Stone elements on conversion of former hospital chapel, Maidstone

Broadmead Renaissance Cast Stone was approached by Berkeley Homes to provide reconstructed stone elements for the refurbishment and conversion of the former Oakwood Park Hospital chapel into five luxury apartments.
The initial order was for two replacement mullioned windows and a replica arched door surround with trefoil window above, this new surround being the showpiece entrance to the middle three apartments. Broadmead RCS had to satisfy the planners’ requirement that colour and finish matched the existing stonework.
The contract was extended to include repairs to all existing window and door surrounds and was then further extended to include plinth, cills, heads and door surrounds to the nearby former Secretary’s office which was being converted into two luxury fourbedroomed houses. The reconstructed stone used for these elements was to match the existing ‘tooled’ granite finish.
