The Channel Tunnel Rail Link was opened in November 2007 to provide a high speed link between the newly refurbished St Pancras Station in London and the Channel Tunnel.
Prior to the opening, concerns were expressed about the security of some of the bridges and it was therefore decided that additional encapsulation was required to prevent items being dropped from a total of 12 bridges and structures.
Working closely with CTRL and their term contractors, Topbond were responsible for the supply and installation of encapsulation solutions to a number of structures, including a length of around 1km of castellated coping along the Purfleet HVCB.
The works had to be completed within a very tight schedule to ensure that this high profile project opened on time and Topbond personnel worked around the clock to ensure that all works were completed within the agreed time frame.
