HTS Flooring, the newly-established flooring division of the Topbond plc Group, were recently awarded a contract to convert an old, damaged bus station concrete ground floor into a high quality floor surface suitable for use as retail premises and additionally, to convert a first floor bowling alley for use as a storeroom. The main contractor, Brighouse Construction, awarded this difficult flooring contract to the specialists HTS Flooring, who were able to offer a 10-year guarantee in conjunction with their material supplier, DCP.
Having reviewed all materials suitable for these purposes, HTS Flooring chose products from DCP’s range. These included their self-smoothing and fast-drying Cemflow topping system at a nominal 12mm to level up the substrate, and to overcome the damage and latex residue from the wooden bowling alley floor removal to provide a safe, level surface, which was then coated with Strongcoat WD product, resulting in an industrial quality, hardwearing but easy-to-clean floor. This transformed what was a low-quality, uneven concrete floor surface into an area where heavy stockroom trolleys could be easily and safely used.
The total storeroom area of 700m2 was installed within 72 hours, using 10 tonnes of DCP’s Cemflow and 250kg of Strongcoat products.
