In 2003 Intaspan were invited to tender for the design and construction of a footbridge to provide access across the A406 road at Barking to a new retail and commercial development which was under construction.
Intaspan was awarded the contract to carry out the full design and build package for the sub– and super-structure.
The structure is made of a fully steel deck on a series of Precast concrete columns, sitting on piled foundations. The main span is 28m with associated ramps totaling 117m. The deck surfaces are coated with anti-skid surfacing to provide a safe and durable finish to the structure.
