A1 Great Northway Bridges

As part of the replacement of edge beams on the existing bridge carrying the A1 across a river, Intaspan were commissioned to design, fabricate and erect two temporary foot and services bridges to divert the footpath and services from the existing bridge.

The new structures consist of a 28m and a 14m span steel bridge with timber decks on either side of the existing bridge. Installation required a road closure, so the bridges were installed on a Saturday to minimise disruption.
