Stone Edgings on Canal Towpath

As part of their continuing programme of repairing and improving the UK’s canal system, British Waterways recently refurbished a stretch of the Oxford Canal.

Sheet piling was used to protect the canal bank and reconstituted cast stone specialists Broadmead Renaissance Cast Stone were asked to provide a decorative capping to conceal the piling. BRCS produced a number of stones in a colour and finish to match the local natural stone.

The improvements have made this picturesque part of the canal considerably more accessible to both walkers and canal users and has resulted in a marked increase in its use.
